The preliminary round of the 10th 'Chinese Bridge' Chinese Proficiency Competition
The preliminary round of the 10th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students co-organized by Chinese Program and Centre for China Studies of La Trobe University will be held on Friday 13 May 2011 at La Trobe under the auspices of Education Division of Consulate General of P.R.China in Melbourne.
The 'Chinese Bridge' Competition is a large-scale international competition organized and sponsored by Chinese Language Council International. Since its inception in 2002, over 50,000 students from more than sixty counties have participated in this annual competition. It has become an important platform for international students to learn Chinese language and understand more about China.
This is the first time that the preliminary round of the competition being held at La Trobe University for university students from the State of Victoria. The winners will qualify to participate in the semi-finals and the finals to compete with students from all over the world in China.
Professor Paul Johnson, Vice Chancellor and President of La Trobe University will welcome the guests and participants on behalf of the University. Mr Shi Weiqiang, Consul General and Madam Guo Xiaojuan, Education Consul of the P.R.China to Melbourne will present the event. Ten students selected from a large number of applicants from universities in Victoria will participate and show their talents and skills in the competition.
