Synchrotron to LTU Network NOW on VRN
25 May 2012
Good News!
La Trobe University, Australiain Synchrotron and VERNet have successfully managed to directly connect the Synchrotron to the La Trobe network via the VRN.
As of 12.30pm Wednesday 23 May all La Trobe University Synchrotron traffic now goes over the VRN network. This connection was funded by the National Research Network initiative from the Federal Government. This means that any previous or future La Trobe researchers who connect to the Synchrotron will have the benefit of a potential maximum speed of up to 1Gbps, rising to 10 Gbps for Bundoora campus later this year after some router upgrades.
Thanks to staff from VERNet, VeRSI, Synchrotron and of course the La Trobe ICT network team for making this happen.
All Synchrotron users will benefit from this upgrade, including the Physics VisLab and users on all regional campuses.
