November LMS project update
The project is going well and is on target for Phase 1 of upgrade. LMS Version 2.3 will go live on 14th December with an outage window from 8pm 13th December – 9 am 14th December.
- See www.latrobe.edu.au/lms/news/new-features for videos describing the upcoming changes.
- There will be further communication about the outage from the Project Change Manager within the next few weeks.
The PebblePad 3 block has been installed in an LMS test environment and is currently being tested. The Block will provide ‘single sign on’ to PebblePad from the LMS.
Echo 360 (replacing Lectopia) will go live on 15/16th December and in the week beginning 17th December, changes will be made to the firmware in all of the equipped venues. These changes will include the introduction of a Pause/Resume function.
As part of the move to Echo360, La Trobe University will introduce an “all-in” recording system in which all lectures timetabled into appropriately equipped venues are recorded by default. The checkbox in the LMS Admin System that provides an opt-in mechanism for Lectopia recording will be removed.
- Clear guidelines and expectations about the purpose and use of lecture recordings will be communicated to both staff and students in the near future.
- Criteria for ‘opting out’ or not publishing a recorded lecture will be communicated to staff in the near future.
Improved LMS Admin system went live on 25th Oct. Biggest change is the ability to extend the end date of a subject so that student data remains viable after a final grade is awarded in SIS.
