Connect Mentor Applications Open

11 Oct 2012

Connect Mentor ProgramApplications are now open for the 2013 Connect Mentor Program. Join the program and support new students starting out at uni. As a Connect Mentor you will welcome new students at orientation; take students on a campus tour; introduce students to their peers; and provide advice and support throughout the first six weeks of the semester.

Stephanie Metry, a Health Sciences Connect Mentor at Albury-Wodonga campus says, “The best part about being a Mentor is knowing that you’re there for the first year students if they are struggling and need support. It’s also rewarding to know that you’re more involved in your university community.”

What’s in it for you?

  • Develop valuable professional skills
  • Leadership training and experience
  • Eligibility for the La Trobe Award (University Leadership)
  • Certificate of Participation
  • $50 Gift Voucher
Xavier Fuller, a Science, Technology and Engineering Connect Mentor at Bundoora Campus, explained further, “The mentor program has given me an opportunity to meet new people and develop my leadership skills. Involvement in the program has helped add depth to my learning by adding to my skill-set beyond the academic studies of my course.”
