Access, equity and costs of abortion in Australia

On the occasion of a recent publication of an article in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health, a La Trobe knowledge blog titled La Trobe study calls for abortion cost reduction and enhanced early access talks about the findings of a study by Prof Angela Taft, Mridula Shankar and collaborators.

The study shows that abortion costs in Australia are substantial and a financial strain for many women. The study concludes that policy reform should focus on reducing costs and enhancing early access. The knowledge blog also highlights the work of the Judith Lumley Centre. Read more...
