Shepparton student Brodie Jukes has recently returned from a semester in the United States as a part of Faculty of Business, Economics and Law Student Exchange Program.
‘La Trobe University strongly encourages students to consider studying overseas for a semester, and financially supports those students who are offered that opportunity’, said Sue Nalder, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Shepparton Coordinator of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law.
Mr Jukes was a place for semester one at State University New York (SUNY) Oswego.
‘It was an incredible experience’, said Mr Jukes.
‘It was something I never dreamed of doing but once this exchange offer was on the table, there was no looking back’.
The third year accounting student who works at Brooks Accountants in Cobram has returned to Shepparton to finish his final semester of study.
He now intends to return to the United States for further study.
‘I’m applying to George Washington University in Washington to undertake a Masters in Behavioural Finance. This would commerce in July 2014’, said Mr Jukes.
Mrs Nalder believes an overseas experience only furthers to enrich the student experience.
‘Overseas studies give students a far greater exposure to our global economy and environment and allows them to meet different students and lecturers and gain experience in another university setting, all the while embarking on overseas travel’, said Mrs Nalder.
