DAFF grant success

Congratulations to researchers from AgriBio, the Centre for AgriBioscience, who have been awarded grants from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).

A project into the mitigation of nitrous oxide emissions in the national vegetable industry, led by Dr Phillip Keane of La Trobe University, will receive $1,800,000. The project is assessing new fertiliser technologies and management strategies which have potential to increase nitrogen use efficiency. The research also involves Dr Ian Porter and Professor Caixan Tang from La Trobe.

Another project, led by the University of Western Australia, involves Dr Clayton Butterly and Professor Caixan Tang from La Trobe University and is investigating the management of biological, physical and chemical constraints to soil carbon storage. La Trobe University will receive a third of the funding which totals more than $1,200,000.
