Chinese New Year 2013

The Confucius Institutes annual Chinese New Year Celebration organised in conjunction with the Centre for China Studies and Office of the Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor was held on the 22 of February and was a resounding success with more than 600 staff, guests and students enjoying a range of entertainment and food.

We’d like to thank all of those that were able to attend and participate in our activities including the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor of La Trobe University, the Consul General and Chief Education Consul of the Peoples Republic of China, general and academic staff of the university, local and international students, the students and teachers of Charles La Trobe University and the students of La Trobe Melbourne.

We’d also like to thank the various performers who entertained with songs and demonstrations and the volunteers, for without their help the show wouldn’t have gone on.

People who arrived early received a hongbao (red envelope) with discount coupons from the Confucius Institute and a number of other businesses. In no particular order we’d like to thank them for their support:

STA Travel, J2K Mobile, Singapore Airlines, Fuel Juice Bar, Café Spice, Tang Restaurant, Bake + Bean, Mamak Rice and Noodle, Life Skills, Pings Café.

We wish you all the best for the Year of the Snake and hope to welcome you all again for the next Chinese New Year.
