Biomechanics Laboratory Facilities

The following facilities are either located in the Biomechanics Laboratory or are readily accessible for teaching and research purposes:

• Locam High Speed 16mm Cine Camera System with Angineux 12 x 120 lens
• PCD Film Digitizer and Projector
• CARS-UBC tri-axial electrogoniometer
• Clinical Stride Analyser: IBM PC based version of the Rancho Los Amigos Stride analyser. (Department of Physiotherapy)
• Morgan Magna-88 computerized metabolic cart
• Morgan Oxylog portable oxygen analysis system
• Quinton Instruments Treadmill and Cycle ergometers
• KinCom III Isokinetic Dynamometer
• Medelec 4 channel oscilloscope and U/V recorder
• TEAC 4 channel instrumentation tape recorders
• Coulbourne telemetry system (4 single channel systems)
• Motion Lab Systems MA100 EMG system. Other electromyographic equipment: a variety of electrodes, amplifiers andrecording systems is available.
• PDP 11/73 Computer System with 1MB RAM, 200MB disk, 8" Floppy disk,600' cartridge mag tape system, 64 channel ADC, programmable clock, VT100, VT241, and VT640 terminals, LA120 printer terminal, LQP03 printer,Tektronix 4612 hard copy graphics device, f lat bed plotter, running under RSX11M operating system with DAOS data acquisition and analysis software and Fortran-77. Networking to the university's VAXcluster provides access to statistical processing (SPSSx) and other large computer facilities.
• PDP 11/23 Computer system with 256K ram, dual 8" floppies, 16 channel ADC, 4 channel DAC, programmable clock, running under RT11 operating system with DAOS data acquisition and analysis software.
• MacIntosh Quadra 650 with Macadios data acquisition hardware and Superscope II software
• Umatic VCR and monitor with slow search and still frame facilities
• Phillips Video 10 mini-studio system
• Force Line Visualization system utilizing the Phillips Video 10 system, the force platform, one of the PDP 11 computers and the Umatic VTR. The system superimposes force vectors on an image of an individual on the force platform.
• Miscelaneous transducers including accelerometers, linear displacement transducers, force transducers, amplifiers, oscilloscopes, etc.
• Miscelaneous differential amplifiers, signal generators, power supplies (Tektronix 500 series)
