International travel
La Trobe's nanotechnology program connects you to research labs around the world and gives you an international perspective on how nanotechnology is evolving. Our global study opportunities include:
Student exchange
Nanotechnology students have the chance to study overseas as part of the La Trobe's student exchange programs. Learn more about our range of exchange opportunities.
Nanotechnology study tour – Japan
In January 2013, staff and students from La Trobe’s nanotechnology program will travel to Tokyo to attend the 12th International Nanotechnology Exhibition and Conference – the biggest nanotechnology exhibition in the world.
The visit offers students a chance to see the opportunities for study and work at an international level.
Nano Tech 2013 reinforces the ground-breaking nature of nanotechnology at the intersection between physics, chemistry and biology.
2008 visit to Japan
A group of La Trobe University nanotechnology students attended the 2008 exhibition and conference in Tokyo. Dr Paul Pigram, convenor of the La Trobe Nanotechnology Program, led a group of nine students and two high school teachers as a part of the Australian delegation organised by the Australian Nano Business Forum.
‘It’s housed in an exhibition centre on Tokyo Bay that dwarfs anything we have in Australia,’ Dr Pigram said. ‘What you see when you go into the exhibition hall are the major international companies highlighting the latest manufacturing equipment, the best analytical instruments, and the newest products in the nanotechnology space.’
The La Trobe University sponsors in 2008 were:
- the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research)
- the Faculty of Science Technology and Engineering
- the School of Molecular Science.
