Research

Microbiology is a broad discipline covering a wide range of subjects, as can be seen in the diverse areas of research being studied within the Department. Both pure and applied areas of research are represented.

The University's Microbiology research has been awarded the highest ranking in the Australian Government's Excellence in Research Australia (ERA) Report 2012, recognising La Trobe's research as 'well above world standard'. La Trobe is the only Australian institution to achieve this level of excellence in Microbiology.
