Leadership opportunities
Menzies College has the largest student leadership teams in the country and each play a vital part in our college community.
First year residents have opportunities to take up leadership positions in several ways:
- join a floor or annexe committee and help organize events
- stand for selection onto a student club committee and assist in planning excursions and assisting with functions
- contribute to our events calendar
There are also many opportunities to access formal training, including:
- first aid
- responsible serving of alcohol
- leadership
- teamwork
- effective communications

Seniors
Seniors provide pastoral care and support, and are active in building strong communities across the college and are highly respected though the college.
Each Senior has responsibility for a floor or annexe, and plays a vital role in Orientation and Transition (O&T) week, organises dinners, floor events, floor trips and meetings. They are carefully selected, and trained to deal with most situations that arise.
Student Club
Each year, students elect a Coordinator and a co-Coordinator. Reps are then selected to help organise activities in four key areas:
- sports and fitness
- community, outreach and international
- entertainment
- culture
Positions are keenly contested, and Reps have an excellent opportunity to contribute to the college and learn valuable skills in the process.
Study Focus Mentors
Study focus mentors are appointed in college to help run the study support program for first year students. Study focus mentors are carefully selected and have considerable responsibility. They make a huge difference to the study and overall culture in college.
