Background/Research Interests
Mary has a professional background in television and video production having worked as a senior editor for Television New Zealand and as a freelance documentary maker and researcher.

Mary's research interests are broadcasting policy, public service broadcasting in the digital era, media representation of climate change, the future of news media, media policy, and documentary. She is currently writing a book for the UK publisher Intellect, on the role of public service broadcasting in the digital era.

Postgraduate Supervision
Mary is available to supervise honours and postgraduate theses on topics relating to television broadcasting, the news media industry, documentary and new media policy and creative theses by documentary production.
