Background/Research Interests
Mary has a professional background in television and video production having worked as a senior editor for Television New Zealand and as a freelance researcher and documentary maker.

Mary's research interests are broadcasting policy, public service broadcasting in the digital era and television and online documentary. She is currently writing a book for Intellect Ltd, a UK publisher, on the future of public service broadcasting.

Postgraduate Supervision
Mary is available to supervise honours and postgraduate theses on topics relating to television broadcasting, the news media industry, documentary and new media policy and creative theses by documentary production.
