Student programs

At the MDFRC we support students through the following pathways.

Thirty PhD students from seven Universites have undertaken their doctoral research through MDFRC, with an additonal 37 Honours or Masters Students having studied at MDFRC. Over 638 students across the Murray‐Darling Basin have partcipated in the Rotary Murray ‐ Darling School of Freshwater Research held in Albury‐Wodonga, and an additonal 407 students have taken part in the Health of the River Forum held near Mildura.

The MDFRC is a partner in the La Trobe University Science Faculty Industry Cadetship Program. Each year MDFRC host up to six cadets through this program at laboratories in Wodonga and Mildura. These ten week, paid placements provide an excellent way for undergraduate students to experience the working environment of an ecological research organisation. Students from the following schools are eligible to apply; Botany, Environmental Management and Ecology and Zoology.
