Lyn Watson is a statistician who has worked at Mother and Child Health Research (MCHR) since 1992. Lyn came to MCHR with a strong background in health research statistics. Subsequently she has developed and refined her statistical expertise in epidemiological and public health research, and has been involved in randomised trials, cohort studies and case-control studies. She has a track record of working as an integral team member with MCHR teams and other public health research teams within Australia, through assisting with any or all of the design, sample size and analysis phases. For example, Lyn had a major role in design and analysis of a cluster randomised trial to reduce depression after childbirth (PRISM). Lyn’s contribution to COMPASS will be to assist team investigators with project design, sample size and analysis as required. She has recently submitted her PhD thesis titled “Early Births – a case-control study of very preterm birth” and has been awarded a La Trobe University Institute for Advanced Study Postgraduate Writing-Up Award.
