Tertiary Enabling Program

Keen to study but not sure where to start? Looking for a pathway to further education? Want to develop academic skills and confidence in a supportive environment?

The La Trobe Tertiary Enabling Program is an award winning generalist preparatory program that is being delivered in Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo in partnership with Bendigo TAFE, Mildura in partnership with Sunraysia Institute of TAFE, Shepparton in partnership with GOTAFE, and Broadmeadows in partnership with Kangan Institute.

The program:

  • Provides students with specific academic skills and confidence to help them successfully complete university or TAFE study.
  • Equips students to make decisions about future learning and develop pathways to continuing education.

The Tertiary Enabling Program runs for eighteen weeks and is structured around four key subjects that give students a strong foundation of skills. The content of the program goes well beyond basic literacy courses.

The subjects have been developed so that they interrelate with each other. Students are therefore strongly urged to enrol in all four subjects and past students have found that enrolling in all four subjects has been extremely valuable.

What are the entry requirements?

The TEP is designed for students who are:
  1. Keen and willing to learn.
  2. Prepared to dedicate the necessary time and effort to the program.

What will I learn?

  • Introduction to Science

There is generally a two hour lecture per week for each of these subjects. Students will be supported in their studies with tutorials and consultation time.

How much work is involved?

The Tertiary Enabling Program makes every effort to provide students with adequate preparation for the potential years of study ahead of them. Therefore, we create a realistic teaching and learning environment.

Regular assignments will be set and students should be prepared to spend up to four hours per week on homework for each enrolled subject. This time may vary however, according to the nature and due dates of assessment tasks.
