Six steps to apply
Step 1: Choose your course
Step 2: Check your course requirements
Some courses have other requirements like prerequisites or portfolio presentations, so check the ‘prerequisite’ and ‘Year 12 and non-year 12 extra requirements’ sections for your course.
We also recommend mature-age applicants complete a personal statement. Find out more about extra application requirements.
Step 3: Consider your entry pathways
If you think you may not meet the entry requirements or prerequisites for your preferred course, we can help. We offer a range of pathways including:
- preparatory programs
- bridging courses
- course transfer options
- credit for TAFE study.
Read more about our pathways and contact us on 1300 135 045 if you have any questions.
Step 4: Come and visit us
Come to one of our mature-age events to get a taste of life at La Trobe and have your questions answered in person.
Step 5: Apply
You can also apply direct to La Trobe for some courses/programs listed in the VTAC Guide if you are:
- not currently studying Year 12 in Australia and;
- intending to submit an application only to La Trobe.
If you're intending to apply to more than one institution, or to courses other than those listed, you must apply through VTAC or UAC.
Timely applications to VTAC close at 5pm on 27 of September, 2013. Applications to UAC close at midnight on 27 of September, 2013. Applications are accepted after these dates but a late fee will apply. Once you have applied, you have plenty of time to change your preference.
Step 6: Accept your offer
If you are offered a place, you’ll receive a letter of offer from VTAC or UAC, then an enrolment pack from us. To accept your offer, all you need to do is come to campus and enrol. Find out more about enrolling.
