Credit for Previous Studies
La Trobe recognises and values your previous post-secondary or tertiary studies, which may enable you to start your degree with Advanced Standing.
- If you'd like to apply for credit for your studies at another post-secondary institution or university, you simply do this when you enrol in your La Trobe course.
- If you're studying at another institution and you'd like to transfer to La Trobe, you should apply through VTAC or UAC as a Non-Year 12 applicant; you may be asked to complete a Personal information (Pi) form to fill us in on your background and why you've chosen a particular La Trobe course.
- If you're a current La Trobe student and you'd like to transfer from one La Trobe course to another, you can apply directly to the University. You can download the application for transfer form from La Trobe's enrolment webpage.
Please note: Students in La Trobe's Faculty of Health Sciences who want to transfer to another health sciences course within the University (prior to completion of their current course) must submit an application for transfer form. Applications through VTAC for internal transfer within the Faculty of Health Sciences will not be considered.
La Trobe also offers students from various TAFEs and other institutions the opportunity to fast-track their undergraduate degree via credit for successful or partial completion of specific Diploma or Advanced Diploma programs.

The tables on these pages outline the credit you'll receive for studies at these institutions if you gain a place in an undergraduate course at La Trobe.
However, please note that entry is competitive, and not guaranteed on the basis of prior studies.
If you don't see your institution listed, don't worry - La Trobe will still take all relevant prior studies into account.
