Before you apply

Before you apply to study at La Trobe, you need to understand what sort of mature-age applicant you are as this will determine the specifics of your application to VTAC or UAC.
If you have completed your VCE (or equivalent)
If you have completed your VCE (or equivalent) simply apply to VTAC or UAC using your academic record. Even if you have an academic record you might still choose to sit the STAT to supplement your existing results. As sitting the STAT costs money and is something you need to prepare for, it is best to speak with a selection officer before you decide – they will help you work out whether sitting the STAT will be advantageous to you.
If you haven’t completed your VCE (or equivalent)
If you haven't completed your VCE (or equivalent) you must sit a STAT and apply through La Trobe’s Mature-Age Special Entry Scheme. This form of entry is only available to applicants over 21-years of age.
If you have completed your VCE (or equivalent) but are under 21-years of age
If you have completed your VCE (or equivalent) but are under 21 years of age you simply apply to VTAC using your ATAR/ENTER score, and any partial or complete TAFE or university studies you have undertaken.
You can also choose to supplement your application by sitting the STAT. It is important to note that students under 21 years of age are not eligible to apply for the Mature-Age Special Entry Scheme.
