The demand for qualified statisticians has been and continues to be extremely strong. The Statistics Section at La Trobe University is offering well-structured postgraduate courses in statistical science. The course-work programs includes:
A number of HECS places are available. The Master of Science (Statistical Science) includes a thesis component. Research areas of the staff include: theory of statistical inference, statistical model selection, dimension reduction, exact confidence intervals from count data, robust statistics, time series analysis, foundations of statistical inference and biostatistics. Supervision in these areas is available and supervision in other areas can be negotiated. Students pursuing our postgraduate degrees will have the opportunity to undertake courses administrated and taught by members of The Key Centre for Statistical Sciences, which is composed of the statistics departments of La Trobe University, Monash University, the RMIT University and the University of Melbourne.
