Biography of Prof Robert G. Staudte
Robert Staudte was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1940. His graduate studies were carried out at the University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana, where he was awarded the MSc in Mathematics in 1964 and the PhD in Mathematical Statistics in 1968. After promotion to Associate Professor at Michigan State University in 1973, he moved to La Trobe University at the Senior Lecturer level and was recently promoted to Professor. He is the author or coauthor of four books and more than 50 refereed publications.
During his career at La Trobe University, Robert Staudte has served as Head of the Department of Statistical Science for five years and Head of the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences for three years. He was an Associate Editor for the Journal of Statistical Planning & Inference for four years and is currently Associate Editor of Statistics and Probability Letters. He is an elected member of the International Statistics Institute and a member of the American Statistical Association, the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society and the Statistical Society of Australia. He has held visiting scholar positions at the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology in Zurich and Lausanne, the Departments of Statistics at Carlos III University of Madrid, Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, the University of Paris, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Geneva and Cornell University.
