Professor Edgar Smith Scholarship
Remembering Professor Edgar Smith (1944-2009)
The Professor Edgar Smith Scholarship was established by La Trobe University to honour the memory of Professor Edgar Smith who passed away Monday 27 July 2009.
Professor Edgar Smith was appointed to the Chair in Applied Mathematics at La Trobe in 1986 from the University of Melbourne where he held a readership. He served as head of the mathematics department in the late 1980's and early 1990's and was Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering from 1997 until 2000. He was Pro Vice-Chancellor IT from 1995 until 2005.
Professor Edgar Smith was held in great affection by everyone in the department of mathematics and statistics and he had very many friends in the University.

The Professor Edgar Smith Scholarship Fund was established by La Trobe University to honour the memory of Professor Edgar Smith.
