Research within the Department

Research activities strongly influence the subjects offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The Department upholds the objective of the University; that teaching be informed by research. The research activities of the Department span both pure and applied mathematics, with groups of academic staff working in computational techniques, dynamical systems and chaos theory, statistical mechanics, differential equations, geometry and optimisation theory, algebra, analysis and differential geometry.
