About LUPA

Governance

LUPA Committee Structure

LUPA is governed by an elected body comprised of postgraduate students that are responsible for the control and management of the association. This includes goal setting and policy development within the terms of the purpose of the Association as set out in the LUPA constitution.

The LUPA committee consists of ten members. Nine members are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in second semester. The tenth member is the postgraduate representative on University Council who, upon election, automatically becomes a member of the LUPA committee.

LUPA Officers

The officers of LUPA are the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Officer and International Officer. Any committee member who does not hold an officers position is deemed an ordinary member of the committee.

LUPA Representatives

In late 2005, LUPA introduced a number of representative roles: women's representative, Indigenous representative and queer representative. A representative is a postgraduate student who identifies with, or is sensitive to the needs of each individual group. The role of a representative is to liaise with individuals and/or groups in the University, bringing any feedback or need for special support to the committee for discussion. A representative does not necessarily have to be a committee member although they can, if desired.

If you interested in becoming involved with LUPA, please see our election procedures.
