Education programs

Art is not supposed to just be beautiful, appropriate for a setting or easy. Its most satisfying function is that it allows us to exercise our minds. Philip Yenawine (former Director of Education, New York Museum of Modern Art)

La Trobe University Museum of Art encourages opportunities for schools to come into close contact with its art collection. Our education program is designed around the Victorian Essential Learning Standards with a focus on developing creativity in learning.

School and community groups are encouraged to contact the Museum where we can provide supported tours of current exhibitions and the La Trobe University Sculpture Park.

Educational resource material with links to the school curriculum can also be provided by request.

Teacher preview evenings are held for each exhibition. Held in the evening (5 – 6pm) they intend to introduce the exhibition and education opportunities to teachers in an informal setting.

To register your interest in any of the education programs or for further information please contact the Public Program and Education Officer.
