ATENEO: Modes of Impact
24 April - 24 June
LUMA
Over the last eight years LUMA | La Trobe University Museum of Art and the Ateneo Art Gallery at Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines have partnered in an ambitious Arts Exchange Program. In 2013 this will continue with an exhibition of contemporary video work from the Philippines curated by Ateneo Art Gallery and presented at LUMA. The exhibition will highlight the dynamism and variety of video practice from one of South East Asia's most exciting art scenes.
ANTENEO: Modes of Impact, is a selection of video work recently acquired for the Ateneo Art Galleries permanent collection; presenting a snapshot of the current socio-economic and political landscape of the Philippines - a dichotomy of a gleaming urban landscape brought about by globalization, and the country's rapid economic progress - in 2012, the Philippines, next to China, was the second fastest growing economy in Asia - against a backdrop of the abiding challenges in the areas of transparency, good governance and human rights.
