We won! La Trobe wins global competition (Issue 11, 2012)

Trevor BudgeThe votes are in and La Trobe University won the NAFSA* international video competition with our video ‘Making the world your campus.’ NAFSA made the announcement at their annual general meeting early in the morning of 31 May 2012 (Melbourne time).

Share the video with family and friends to show them how great your University is! You can view it on YouTube here.

More than 60 individuals and universities from all over the world submitted videos to the contest. The panel of judges reviewed the entries and selected six finalists for online voting. La Trobe University’s video was one of those selected. In the video we demonstrate how La Trobe bridges cultural boundaries through our outbound student mobility programs – specifically in this case, one of those for students in our urban, rural and environmental planning courses on the Bendigo campus.

The top three videos were shown at NAFSA’s annual meeting and La Trobe received an award in recognition of our commitment to furthering international education. The creation of ‘Making the world our campus’ is a great example of collaboration across faculties, divisions and campuses and illustrates how talented La Trobe staff can be.

Australian universities including La Trobe know the importance of developing global perspectives in our graduates as they move out into an increasingly globalised workforce.

Now we have shown the world how we can do that!
