Why use the LMS?

Using the University’s supported LMS has a number of advantages.
- It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week except for minimal scheduled downtime (you and your students will be informed in advance).
- Available from La Trobe University and anywhere with internet access.
- Complies with copyright legislation by restricting access to copyright material to staff and students of La Trobe University.
- Enhances interaction by providing a variety of communication and assessment tools
It must be emphasised however that using WebCT for the first time for teaching can be time-consuming and requires a degree of commitment on the part of the lecturer.
The best advice is to start off small and take it slowly, gradually building your online presence as your skills and confidence grow.
