What is the LMS?
La Trobe University’s centrally supported Learning Management System (LMS) is Blackboard/WebCT CE 6 (formerly WebCT).
Use of the LMS supports the University's emphasis on blended approaches that combine face-to-face and technology supported learning.
The LMS provides academic staff with an internet based framework in which to situate unit study materials and a variety of tools with which to manage communication and interaction with and among students. The tool set offered by the LMS falls into five broad categories:

The LMS supports the use of additional learning technologies. These include, but are not confined to:
- LECTOPIA – Lectures Online La Trobe University has a license for LECTOPIA and supports its use. From within the LMS you can create a link to a LECTOPIA lecture.
- TURNITIN – ANTI PLAGIARISM SOFTWARE. The University has a license for TURNITIN and supports its use. TURNITIN currently operates independently of the of the LMS.
- RESPONDUS – Software for Quiz creation. A license for this software was purchased in Nov 2007. RESPONDUS allows you to create many types of questions which can then be added to quizzes and uploaded into the LMS.
