Project objectives

Phase 1 of the upgrade project is now complete;

  • The LMS environment was successfully upgraded to version 2.3 on Friday December 14, 2012.

  • Core testing has revealed no major issues.

  • Training and support materials have been moved from the LMS website into a RESOURCES DATABASE within the LMS itself (login required: Login to LMS).  Currently there are over 70 user guides present in the database covering the LMS, PebblePad and Collaborate, with more to be added during 2013.

Phase 2 (due for completion at the end of March) objectives;

  • Mobile Theme and support for Mobile Devices
    As the numbers of internet-enabled phones and tablets increase, more and more students will use the LMS via mobile devices.  Phase 2 of the LMS upgrade project introduced a mobile theme with better formatting and support for mobile device.

  • PebblePad
    La Trobe is planning to upgrade from PebblePad 2.5 to PebblePad 3 in 2013.  Phase 2 will include a bridge between the LMS and the updated PebblePad system to facilitate single sign on.

  • Collaborate
    It is also planned to implement a bridge between the LMS and Collaborate.

  • Usability Testing
    Usability 1 has undertaken usability testing of the updated LMS in February 2013.

  • Student Photos
    Student photos have been drawn from the Student Card system and imported directly to LMS profiles.

  • Further refinement of Manage My Subjects (previously the LMS Admin System) to facilitate ease of use.
