Bioinformatics
Life Sciences Computation Centre
The La Trobe hub of the Life Sciences Computation Centre (LSCC) provides access to world-class computing facilities, software, bioinformatics support and training.
The LSCC at La Trobe is part of the Victorian Life Sciences Computation Initiative (VLSCI). We are funded by LIMS, La Trobe e-Research, the School of Life Sciences at La Trobe and the VLSCI.
The LSCC runs regular workshops, some of which are held at La Trobe University. LSCC events are advertised on the LSCC website.
Research and Bioinformatics Support
Please contact us if you need bioinformatics support for a project. We're always happy to discuss potential new projects, large or small. If you're starting a new project please try to involve us as early as possible.
Although we are happy to discuss any kind of project, our main areas of expertise are:
- differential expression analysis (RNA-Seq, Proteomics, Microarray)
- proteomics and proteogenomics
- next-generation sequence analysis
- cancer genetics
- comparative genomics
- protein modelling
- database development
- web application development
- high performance computing (we can provide technical advice on this)
- general application development and scripting.
Facilities
Galaxy
We maintain the La Trobe Galaxy Instance. Galaxy is a fantastic resource for performing bioinformatics analysis in your web browser. The La Trobe Galaxy Instance is backed by a new 32 core 512GB server purchased by e-Research La Trobe.
