Ask the library to borrow films
As an academic staff member or research assistant, you may ask the library to borrow films from the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) or the National Film and Sound Archive.
- Make sure the library does not have the item. From the library home page, click on the Catalogue tab and search for the item.
- Search either the ACMI or National Film and Sound Archive online catalogues to find the item.
- If the item is listed, note the catalogue number of the film or video required
- If the item is not found, the Interlending and Document Delivery staff may be able to locate the item at another library.
- Use the Request Film form to organise the loan of the film/video.
- Items borrowed from the Cinemedia Access Collection are free.
- If the item is obtained through the Interlending and Document Delivery service you may be due for a fee.
- You will be charged for any overdue fees.
When will I know that I can have the film?
- You will receive confirmation of your screening dates once we have confirmation from the lending library.
- Contact the Inquiry Desk if you have not received confirmation two weeks prior to your screening dates.
Where do I collect/return the film?
- You can collect the film from the Inquiry Desk. The film will only be available for the specific screening dates requested.
- If you have the film for more than one day, you must lock it in a secure place overnight.
- You can return the film to the Inquiry Desk. It must be returned on the day of the last screening with a completed screening report.
- Do not rewind the film or video.
What are the conditions of loan?
- No charge may be made for admission to screenings.
- Films or videos may not be copied.
- Films or videos may not be lent to other persons or organisations and are not lent for home or private screenings.
- Your School is responsible for the cost of repair or damage.
- Do not repair damaged films or videos. Record the nature of the problem on the screening report.
- You must return the film or video by the due date.
- You must complete the screening report.
- Remember to return the lending library’s spools.
