Get an item on my reading list

Your lecturer may give you a reading list with items that are essential reading for your subject. Items on this list are high use material. Most can be found:

  • in the reserve area of the library
  • in the general collection
  • online.

To search your Reading List, type your lecturer's surname or unit code:

   

How do I find reading list items from the above search box?

  1. You can search by your unit code e.g. ENG2REM or your lecturer's name e.g. SMITH, J.
  2. Click on the appropriate radio button for your search.
  3. In the Search box enter your unit code or lecturer's name.
  4. Click on the search button.
  5. If there is more than one entry displayed for your unit code, look for your campus or lecturer.
  6. There may be different types of lists displayed for your unit code, for example:
    • Three Hour Loans are books you can borrow for three hours or overnight.
    • Electronic Reserve are chapters, journal articles or papers you can read online.
    • Audiovisual can be borrowed for three or four hours.
    • AV Online are programs you can watch online.

    Displays the title and call # and whether it is currently available. Use the call # to find the book in the Reserve area of the library.

    Displays the title and call # and whether it is currently available. Make note of the call # and ask for the item at the Inquiry/Loans Desk.
    Electronic Reserve
    Click on the title you require and then click on Access full text. Enter your login details. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the item.
    AV Online
    Click on the title you require and then click on Access electronic resource. Enter your login details. You will need a media player to view the item.

How do I find reading list items from the library home page?

  1. Click on the Catalogue tab on the library home page.

  2. Use the drop down menu All Collections. Under the heading Reserve, select by Subject Code (you can also search by your lecturer's name).

Frequently asked questions

  1. How many items can I borrow?
    You can only borrow two reserve items at a time.
  2. Can I renew reserve items?
    Reserve items cannot be renewed.
  3. Can I get reserve items sent to a city campus?
    No, reserve items can only be borrowed in person.
