Legal StudiesResearchLegal Studies research embraces a broad array of perspectives and approaches to understanding law, its nature, operation, significance and effects. As an interdisciplinary field of inquiry, the methods and insights of various disciplines inform and enrich the research process. The topics and questions explored in Legal Studies research ranges from the empirical through to the theoretical. The La Trobe Legal Studies staff comprises committed researchers with particular expertise in relation to: criminology and criminal justice; sentencing and punishment; law and social justice, indigenous and cross-cultural issues and perspectives; gender, crime and law; socio-legal history; and crime, representation, law and popular culture.
