All recordings must have an audio component. However you can choose to not record either video source. In this example, the Audio is enabled as well as the computer screen for capture and webcam input.
Configuring recording devices
To change or configure one of your capture sources, simply click on Configure at the bottom of the screen to choose from the devices available within your system (i.e. devices that have been plugged in and activated, such as a microphone, webcam, or secondary monitor).

Use the drop-down menus to view your device options.
Here you may choose your device preferences (which may be required if you are connecting external devices).

The Audio/Video Devices menu will only present the configurations options available for connected devices.
Configure audio device
- Select Audio Device from the drop-down list
- Select Audio Input from the drop-down list (note: only available when using Windows)
Configure screen capture and/or webcam devices
Under the Video (Left) field of the configuration menu you will find options to configure video settings for either screen capture or your webcam.
Here you should select to capture your screen unless you intend to capture your webcam only, in which case you can select to capture your webcam.
If you have a second device connected you will be offered a Video (Right) drop-down menu. The two options presented under this drop-down configuration menu are:
- None
Or, - Webcam
When you are opting to capture both your screen and your webcam you should select Screen Capture under the Video (Left) drop-down menu and your webcam under Video (Right).
If you intend to capture only your webcam you should select webcam from the Video (Left) drop-down menu and then under the Video (Right) select none.
Please note that screen capture is not available under Video (Right). Under each of the Video (Left) and Video (Right) drop-down menus select your desired device. Select Video Quality from the drop-down list to alter the quality and size of the video capture.
Video quality options are:
- Actual Size: optimised setting which suits on-screen presentations (e.g. PowerPoint) and web browsing;
- Quarter Size: optimised setting to suit webcam and video recording
Please note - slower computers with a high resolution or large screen may encounter difficulties when capturing the screen and so selecting the 'Quarter Size' option may be preferable to retain the performance of the PC. For more information please see the troubleshooting section.
It is always recommended when recording webcam to run the capture software at 'Quarter Size' for this device for computer efficiency purposes.
When finished, click Save.
A video taking you through this process is also available.
