Lectopia

In-venue functionality

Lectopia leverages and works with the AV systems in teaching spaces.

What can lectopia record?

A lectopia recording records from five minutes past the hour until five minutes til the hour of your lecture booking.

Lectopia records a single projector feed in the room. Those in dual projector venues please check the notice on the desk which screen is being recorded.

Lectopia records the following video sources from that projector;

  • Computer (both in venue computer and laptops connected)
  • Document camera
  • Aux plate (some smaller venues have the laptop/VGA connection loacted on the auxillary plate input)

Lectopia will not record the DVD, VHS or CD player in room to prevent the recording of copyright material. Copyright is an important area for lectures that are being recorded. If you have any questions or need to check the status of any materials you plan to use, please visit the Copyright page on La Trobe's intranet or contact La Trobe's copyright officer;

Additionally the low frame rate of the automated recording means that videos are not ideally displayed.

When a user switches from a valid source to an invalid source (e.g. from document camera to DVD) Lectopia continues to record the last valid source selected until another valid source is selected.

Letcopia's audio recording consists of the audio from the microphone and the audio from the computer and aux inputs. Lectopia will not record audio from the DVD, VHS or CD inputs however be aware that the mic input may pick up sound from these sources from the speakers in the room and therefore you may be breaching copyright. It is advised for this reason to avoid recording lectures that contain copyright material altogether and instead schedule videos in tutorials.

mic buttonThe microphone will continue to record even if the microphone is on mute. This button only mutes te speakers in room and in video conference, not the recording.
