Outgoing student exchange
What is an exchange?
La Trobe University has an active and expanding program of reciprocal student exchanges. Participating students have the opportunity to study full-time at an overseas university, and undertake a program of study, which may be credited towards their La Trobe University degree.
How will I benefit?
Students who study overseas will experience a new academic environment, gain insight into a different culture and may learn to communicate in another language. On a personal level, they gain maturity, a sense of independence and self-knowledge.

Please note: Some universities require a higher course grade average.

Will it lengthen my course duration?
No, not usually. Most students are able to plan their exchange program with their course advisor so that they receive full advanced standing for their semester of exchange. It is every student's responsibility to make sure you have an approved study plan before you leave Australia. This will ensure that you get advanced standing towards your La Trobe University degree for the units you study overseas.
Specific FLM requirements:
All FLM students: It is advisable that you complete your core units at La Trobe University and your electives while on exchange.
Law students: Please note that you MUST undertake your electives while on exchange, not core units of study.
Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management students: Please note that your school policy only allows you to undertake one semester on student exchange, not a whole academic year.
Costs
In most cases, tuition fees are waived at the host university and students pay their normal fees (CSP or full fees) to La Trobe University for the duration of the exchange.
OS-Help is now available. It is a government funded loan scheme for students doing part of their degree overseas. For further information, visit the Australian government's Going to Uni website.
