Female hand reaching out to catch a jigsaw puzzle pieceWhen: October 12 - 22 2009
Where: La Trobe University, Melbourne (Bundoora)

La Trobe University  has a history of social responsibility and community engagement. A renewed  business subject joins a range of other courses and subjects, which will raise  the consciousness of students in important areas of social and environmental  responsibility in business. The growing trend of approaching business decisions from a more socially aware perspective has underpinned the fine tuning of some of La Trobe's key business subjects

School of Management's senior lecturer, Dr Rosaria Burchielli has commissioned  award winning education designers and key business, media and community figures  to form a subject that is both highly engaging and relevant.

Business Ethics will launch a fora this October where students will role-play and present to a  panel comprised of media and community figures. The presentation will tackle  the issues and controversy surrounding the Wonthaggi desalination plant in Victoria, which has recently secured international financial backing for its construction.

The expert panels will be floored by key figures such as ABC's Paul Barclay and Banyule's Major, Tom Melican. Students will present tothe panels in a series of fora from a number of base points, namely as government lobbyists and members of the media. The panel will in turn open up the discussion to the floor and valuable feedback is sure to ensue.
