Business - Tourism and Hospitality Management
The course information on this page applies to domestic La Trobe students. International students should visit our international students' page
Globally, the tourism and hospitality industries are estimated to employ one in every nine workers worldwide.
Tourism is currently Australia's fourth largest earner of foreign exchange dollars. Tourism is estimated to contribute $59 billion to the Australian economy, and directly employs 549,000 people per annum (Source: ATC 2003).
To meet the demand from the international and Australian hospitality industries, we provide professional training in hospitality management. Courses are designed to produce graduates who are immediately employable and capable of developing a career in managing hotels, motels, resorts, convention centres, restaurants, clubs and large catering facilities. Alternatively, with sound understanding of business management principles gained in this degree, careers are also available in planning, research and consultancy.
In order to cope with growth and the increasing complexity of these industries, there is a strong expectation that those in management positions will have tertiary qualifications.
Our graduates work in both private and government organisations; events management, tourism industry development, coordinating sales teams, in 5-star hotels across the world managing guest relations, within marketing teams and restaurants.
Turn your passion into a career with tourism and hospitality courses at La Trobe.
