The Master of Tourism
The Master of Tourism and the Master of Tourism with Honours degrees are fully accredited postgraduate coursework programmes offered by the new School of Management at the Bundoora campus, La Trobe University. The courses are amongst the first in a suite of new initiatives designed to meet the rapidly changing needs of the worlds biggest industry.
The Master of Tourism provides students with a professionally relevant course of study in contemporary tourism issues and it has a particular focus on the development of tourism, the marketing of tourism destinations and the analysis of tourism activity. The programme has been designed to equip students with advanced skills in tourism analysis and marketing skills that meet the expectations for managing the growing challenges in a dynamic industry.
Career opportunities
Our Graduates are expected to be in high demand as recruits to business corporations dealing with destination development and marketing, as analysts and policy advisors in the various types of municipal and public sector tourism development agencies, and as managers in firms where tourism and travel are core business. Given that Australias tourism industry accounts for an overall total of 6.8% of Gross Domestic Product, or $65 billion in spending and the employment of 810,000 persons, there is every indicator of strong demand for graduate employment.
