e-Learning Plan

The Faculty is currently developing a comprehensive plan for the use of educational technologies in teaching and learning. Most students are expert users of technologies such as the internet and mobile phones before they arrive in the tertiary system, and make use of them as a routine part of their study. La Trobe University is increasingly making use of technologies to assist in the delivery of learning materials, to provide flexibility in terms of time and place, to assist with communication and research, and to provide access to other applications, exercises or simulations.

The University's Learning Management System acts as a central access point for a variety of technologies of this nature, including lecture recordings via Lectopia, virtual classroom activities through Elluminate, and plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin

The Faculty is supporting the research project, ICTs in the Daily Lives of Australian Students, which is examining the use of information and communications technologies in the daily lives of students in the Faculty. Results from this study will inform the e-Learning plan, which is will be completed in mid 2009.
