Brief Profile

Lisa Melsen joined La Trobe Univeristy with the School of Management in 2008.  Prior to joining La Trobe University Lisa lectured in Tourism Management at Charles Darwin University. 

Lisa completed her Bachelor of Business (Tourism and Hospitality) with honours at La Trobe University and has recently graduated with her PhD.  Lisa's PhD investigated regional tourism development with a strong focus on the areas of value, value adding, quality and satisfaction, from both a supply and a demand perspective.  Lisa has also been heavily involved as a research assistant with the school covering a variety of research areas.

Before commencing her academic career Lisa held a number of hospitality positions within three of Melbournes prestigeous hotels.  In particular, Lisa worked in areas of food and beverage service, supervision, reservations, reception and concierge.

Originating from regional Victoria, Lisa is keen and passionate about continuing research into regional tourism and also expanding student knowledge in regards to the tourism industry - one of the most popular industries in the world!

Research projects

Lisa is currently working on a project which looks at the use of social media tools in a teaching and learning capacity.  In particular she is exploring and trailing the use of Facebook and Twitter in her teaching.

She is also involved in a research project with Dr Clare Lade on the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz.
