Brief profile
Dr Julie Margret CPA, CMA, SA Fin, MIIA.
Julie is a senior lecturer in Accounting at La Trobe University. Prior to academe Julie worked in financial accounting and cost accounting positions in local government, manufacturing, health and the building industry. Julie’s research work has been published in various academic and professional journals in addition to proceedings at national and international peer reviewed conferences. Julie has a PhD from the University of Sydney, her M.Com (Research) and B.Bus degrees from Deakin University. Julie has taught a variety of accounting and finance units at the undergraduate level and accounting at the post-graduate level. Currently Julie teaches an MPA (Master of Professional Accounting) unit – Advanced Auditing and Assurance Services; and two 3rd year undergraduate units: Forensic Accounting: Fraud Examination (Semester 1) Internal Auditing (Semester 2). Julie was instrumental in developing the Forensic Accounting sub-major that is now available at La Trobe University.
Julie’s research interests include: Solvency in financial accounting; insolvent trading; directors' duties, financial statement fraud, audit, governance and sustainability.
