Brief Profile

Dr. Hosein Gharavi joined the School of Management in February 2010. Prior to joining La Trobe University, Hosein was appointed as Assistant Professor of Management at School of Business Administration, American University in Dubai. Hosein also held academic appointments at Edith Cowan University where he was involved in a number of research projects examining the process of design, development and evaluation of Customer Relationship Management systems in Australian industries. Furthermore, Hosein has been active in developing frameworks that explains the dynamics of exogenous regulatory control on the extent of Information Systems-based differentiation strategies employed by the stockbroking and other regulated industry sectors in Australia. 

Hosein has presented research papers and case studies at international conferences including; Americas Conference on Information Systems, European Conference on Information Systems and Australasian Conference on Information Systems. In addition, he has published journal articles in Journal of Organization Change Management, Journal of Electronic Government, Journal of Information Technology and People, and Journal of Industrial Management and Data Systems.   Hosein’s current research and teaching interests are concerned with International Human Resource Management, International Management and Strategic Management with specific research topics that include such areas as;

  • MNC expansion and internalization of control (role of technology in internalization of control and formation of inner panopticon)
  • Dynamics of managing Human Resources in an International markets
  • Diffusion of innovation and co-evolution of mandated standardization with strategic choices of individual firms in regulated sectors.
  • Strategic Management (the role of Governments and regulatory institutions in determining the path to strategic development of organizations)
  • Assessment of the Critical Success Factors in Adoption of e-Government Initiatives.
