Mission and vision

LaRRC aims to raise public awareness and contribute to national and global debate about:

  • the causes and consequences of forced displacement
  • the issues faced by individuals and communities during forced displacement, flight, and refuge
  • the need for better access and equity to health and social services for refugee communities.

LaRRC aims to investigate:

  • the social factors that contribute to the health and wellbeing of refugees
  • the optimal social contexts for refugee settlement
  • the socio-political factors that hinder or promote social inclusion, integration and civic participation in refugee communities.

LaRRC aims to provide:

  • knowledge, skills and resources to help organisations improve their refugee service delivery and formulation of public policy
  • mentoring and support to University staff and post-graduate students undertaking research into flight, displacement and refuge
  • teaching in the undergraduate curriculum across University faculties
  • active inclusion in the work of LaRRC for refugees.
