Two Post Graduate Scholarships at the John Richards Research Initiative into Aged Care in Rural Communities

Research summary
Two full time research scholarships are being offered to students interested in undertaking their PhD study on a topic relevant to ageing in rural communities. One is funded by the John Richards Research Initiative (JRI) and the other by the Department of Human Services in the region. A range of disciplines and backgrounds may be appropriate, with proposed projects to be discussed and/or developed with Professor Jeni Warburton. Candidates will join a growing team of researchers based at the JRI in Albury-Wodonga, and will be supervised by Professor Warburton.
Background
The John Richards Research Initiative (JRI) at La Trobe University Albury-Wodonga was established in 2007 in order to lead research and innovation into ageing in rural communities (www.latrobe.edu.au/jri/). Researchers at the initiative are actively involved in research exploring the challenges and opportunities associated with rural ageing, with particular emphasis on the delivery of effective health and aged care services in rural communities.
Benefits
An industry rate scholarship of $26,669 is available on a full time basis for three years as a tax free scholarship income. Further, top up to the tax free threshold of up to $10,000 pa will be offered as research assistant work to support the JRI.

Eligibility is generally the same as for La Trobe University Postgraduate Research Scholarships (http://www.latrobe.edu.au/rgso/scholarships.htm).
