Air conditioning
Approvals of all electrically driven air conditioning systems must be obtained from Sam Wishart, Senior Manager Operations and Maintenance as delegated by Paul Farley, Executive Director Infrastructure & Operations.
Note: All requests must sight strong academic, technical and environmental reasons that support the proposed installation.
Approval
In general, approval will only be granted in the following situations:
- Where air conditioning is critical to the outcome of academic experiments
- In animal accommodation facilities, where air conditioning is necessary for the health and well being of the animals.
- In specialised equipment and central computer rooms where an air conditioned environment is necessary to avoid equipment damage.
- In conference or meeting rooms when there is no alternative room that may be used by staff as a refuge in very hot weather. This is consistent with OH&S procedure Working indoors in hot conditions (PDF 20.9KB)
- In central lecture theatres
