Sylvia Walton Building

Project Director, Richard Lindner

Project summary/description

La Trobe University offers English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) and Foundation Studies and Diploma Programs (FSDP) via La Trobe Melbourne – a partnership between LTU and its external partner (Navitas Pty Ltd). It is proposed that in 2014, these studies will be relocated into stunning new facilities currently being constructed on-campus in the vicinity of the current Education buildings to the east of Peribolos. The exciting new 7,500 square metre building has been designed by Lyons Architects and includes a range of teaching, collaborative, administrative and office spaces which will house both La Trobe Melbourne and also La Trobe International.
Construction of the new building is well advanced, and it is anticipated that it will be completed and handed to the University by the commencement of Semester 1, 2014.

Funding source and budget details

The initial approved budget for this project was $45 million, directly funded by the University.  The project will be completed at a final cost which is approximately 10% below the approved funds, with the savings being returned for reallocation elsewhere.
