Description

A major backlog maintenance item being addressed to make the building waterproof and improve student experience.

Overview

The replacement of the 60 year old Library copper roof, guttering and downpipes to allow the building to be watertight and able to cope with a large downpour.

Project Status

Construction commencement November 2017 (after exam period).

Expected completion for the commencement of Semester 1, 2018.

Benefits

Stopping the roof leaks, added thermal comfort, adding skylights above the stairwells to bring light into the floor, improving the roof strength to allow a solar array to be installed.  This also allows the opportunity to review the library collection when Level 3 is closed for the works and review the function of Level 3 once the books are condensed and relocated.

Design Features

New roofing, guttering and downpipes designed to today's standards and able to cope with a 1 in 100 year storm.
